I would definitely return and recommend to others. Right on the transport system, walkable to everywhere in mid-town and beyond. The location of the property is hard to beat. Although expensive, both the coffee shop and restaurant were good, and a good way to spend the $40 per day very easily. This was a business trip so I wasn't bothered, but used the credit in the coffee shop downstairs. The $40 room "credit" is something I saw a lot of people complaining about. I didn't interact a lot with the staff but each of those times they were professional, although not particularly warm. AC was working well, although a little noisy, but that's to be expected. The bed and pillows were comfortable, shower hot and powerful and it was remarkably quiet. Although the building is old, and the rooms aren't huge, my room was bright, clean and fresh, with everything I needed. The Martinique is definitely one of the better ones I've stayed in recently. NYC hotels are always hard - often small, expensive and old.
